  5. MacEncrypt is a program that uses the Data Encryption Standard (DES)
  6. to encrypt macintosh files with a user supplied password.  This protects
  7. your data from being read by anyone who doesn't know the password.

  9. MacEncrypt is easy to use.  You can select files for encryption using
  10. standard file dialog boxes or using the "drag and drop" technique from
  11. the finder.  MacEncrypt is just 21 kBytes lon and takes only 128 kBytes
  12. of RAM.  It is System 7.0 and 32-bit compatible.

  14. Two versions of MacEncrypt are included in this package.  MacEncrypt
  15. should run on most any Macintosh with enough memory and system
  16. software 6.0.3 or later.  MacEncrypt II has been compiled to take
  17. advantage of the 68020 and 68881 microprocessors and is slightly
  18. faster.  It won't run on Macintoshes without processors of at least
  19. this level.

  21. To install MacEncrypt, simply drag the application icon to a folder you
  22. wish to use it from.  It is very convenient to install it on the desktop
  23. near the trash can so you can just drag files to it for encryption.
  24. MacEncrypt will run suitably from a floppy diskette.  Two versions of
  25. the documentation for MacEncrypt have been included.  One is a
  26. formatted Microsoft Word document.  The other is a simple text file.

  28. MacEncrypt is shareware.  Feel free to distribute it wherever you like.
  29. This includes uploading it to bulletin boards and archive sites.  Just
  30. be sure to include the entire package with this document unchanged.
